ralphsmotorbike: The Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special 1981, with guests Sir Ralph Richardson and Robert Hardy. Sir Ralph arrives to read Ernie’s latest play about “Disraeli spelled with a zed,” while Eric pretends to be Ernie’s butler, and Robert Hardy tries not to laugh too much. At first, Ralph seems a bit vague about the skit, but then he steals Eric and Ernie’s lines (“you can’t see the join” & “how about some tea Ern”), recites one of Eric’s limericks, and asks Eric for his payoff for reading the play. He has an absolutely delightful gleam in his eyes even as he raises his right eyebrow at Ernie’s horrible play. Eric was a huge fan of Sir Ralph and thought he was a wonderful comedian with great timing. -- source link
