derekisme-second-cumming: quitefranklytv: This post will probably be my 2015 Christmas Card BUT … one rather important figure is missing. The size of the U.S. economy is $269,400,000,000,000 (i.e., $269.4 Trillion as of 2014). So, take away 8 zeros, that means the “family” has assets of $2,694,000. (Oh, and it’s a very unusual family too: it has a money printing press in the basement and can pay off its debts whatever happens to its assets.)And, also, the “sewage” in the basement is really just piles of paper promissory notes securing debts mostly owed to other family members living in the same house. And they don’t need - or want - their money right now. Moreover, paying off those promissory notes (which are at incredibly low interest rates) means that the family can’t afford university for the children, or medical care for the grandparents. So, yeah, I’d raise the ceiling. It would be incredibly stupid to do otherwise. My situation a the moment …… -- source link
