Homer, right? Wrong! This portrait bust was probably carved six hundred years (at least!) after the Homeric epics even made their way into writing! And let’s be real, if Homer was even one individual blind poet, he had probably been dead for at least a hundred years before anybody had the bright idea to write all that down. Given the thousand years, give or take, between the “life” of “Homer” and the carving of this bust, I am extremely suspicious of this naturalistic portrait. -- source link
