FIRST WEEK OF MEALS IN ECUADORFortunately, we’ve been eating really well since we arrived, and very cheaply. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what any of these dishes are except for a few The last one was our daily breakfast in Quito - freshly baked bread with cheese and ham. Above that is a photo of the countless juices sold all over the country. My favorite has become jugo de coco, or coconut juice, which comes in many forms. Sometimes it’s straight out of the coconut, literally. A guy on the street will split the coconut in half and pour the liquid in a glass for you for about 50 cents. Other times it’s more frothy and combined with milk. I like both, though should probably stay away from any milk concoctions as my stomach has been screaming at me to stop eating lactose. In general, most of our meals have been in the various markets of the cities we’ve visited, where the most you’ll pay is $2 for a steaming plate of food. All the soups we’ve eaten cost $1. Soup seems to be a big thing here, which I suspect might have a little to do with the chilly climate. If anyone can help me name things, please don’t hesitate to let me know what these dishes are called. Send me a message or add a comment, and I’ll make the appropriate changes! -- source link
