Aesthetic Series: Aileen DonoghueAileen Donoghue has always had an easy life since she was born, a loving family, friends who would do anything for her, well that’s what everyone always thought. No one knew what was going on behind the doors of the family home, no one noticed that the older Aileen and her younger brother Ryan got, the less their parents were seen at home. The only ones who noticed were Aileen’s best friends, James, and Blaine, they had noticed that it wasn’t normal what was happening, but Aileen didn’t want it to be known so she made them promise that they would say nothing to their respective parents and that her grandparents were going to fix everything. But she was lying as she neared the end of junior high, she realized that they couldn’t go on living the way they did and she had to ask for help. So she did the one thing she had promised herself she would never do and contacted her big brother Ciarán who had his life in New York and was starting his career. The latter, when he learned what his brother and sister had been through since his departure, put his career on hold and returned to Lima to take care of them. For the next few years, the young man cared for his brother and sister, taking them with him when he received an offer to star in a movie or a role on Broadway. Often James and Blaine accompanied them, it was even because of him that the three discovered that they wanted to be on the stage of Broadway and the West End, seeing him on stage Aileen had understood that she was like him and that her life would take her to New York. It was because of this passion for musicals that she will meet Rachel at singing lessons and through her Noah, since the two went to the same synagogue. Noah became one of her good friends from this moment on, their friendship compared to the one he had with Rachel will continue in High School, since people had nothing against her in contrary of Rachel. When she became a freshman at William McKinley High School, she was lucky enough to be categorized as someone you don’t want to bother. People knew that if they tried to do to her what they were doing to those they considered nerds, she would fight back and it would not be pretty. It was this position in the school hierarchy that will allow her to have the friends she really wanted and keep the most important people in her life. When Rachel asked her to enter the Glee Club with her because they needed more people, she accepted wanting to please the one who was her best friend and to have one more asset on her summary when the time comes to choose where to go after high school. Choosing to be a member of New Directions will change her and bring to the surface everything, she was hiding from the world, if she had known this was coming, she would have done anything to refuse Rachel’s offer. But she had accepted and was going to live with the consequences even if it meant breaking down.
