Now a new routine has taken hold of John Watson. Rather than the exciting, wonderful and rather farfetched routine he had with Sherlock Holmes, what remained was a repetitive cycle of normalcy that John found absolutely ridiculous. This was why he did it, why he drowned himself in alcohol. To escape from what not has become his reality to suffer. A world without Sherlock Holmes. In that state of sobriety before John Watson began his slow descent to drunkenness once again, everything was strikingly clear. The life he once had before, the routine he had been so accustomed to flashed before his eyes. The loss hit him hard. Alcohol dulled the pain and made it easier. Alcohol made living… Existing bearable. From John Watson’s Journal: Routine “Some days are harder than others, Sherlock. But I try. I try to be strong. For you.” - JW *privately commissioned from gehirnkaefer* -- source link
