butthurtherpetologist: Tyene’s enclosure is finally done! After months of getting sidetracked, a heavy work schedule and school, I finally completed my project and introduced her today. She is currently exploring and settling in. Picture of her will come in time. The faux rock background is made from an underlying Styrofoam base, with a coat of black outdoor pond sealing foam to add texture. On top of that sits 4 layers of bathroom and kitchen grout, mixed with non-toxic acrylic paints, for color, and sealed with kitchen counter safe ((non-toxic)) grout sealer. For heating I am using a reptile basics 80 watt radiant heat panel, this is being controlled by a Vivarium Electronics VE-200 proportional pulse thermostat((set to 93F at the hotspot, which averages around 90F directly under the RHP on the ledge and into the mid 80s farther down. The cool side of the enclosure averages around the mid 70s. The lighting is a 22″ LED light from reptile basics as well. The enclosure has far more in it now, as I have added numerous fake plants for cover ((I’ll get pictures after Tyene settles in)) Sadly this will not be her full size adult enclosure either, but Syrio will be inheriting it eventually, once Tyene needs to be upgraded to her full size adult enclosure. -- source link
