slug-punk: I currently have a few professors that have warned me not pursue CSU Long Beach because the school strongly tries to avoid any controversial research or study of race relations. Being a racially diverse school though, campus police and CSULB should not be trying to hide this altercation. I’ve had friends that attend this school talk to campus police about the altercation to which the police tell them they are “misinformed” about the situation and left it at that. Please spread this around and help everyone get to the bottom of this. Campus police’s number is (562) 985-4101 I want to ensure my friends that attend the school are safe. Btw the victim of this threat is also a member of the school’s black student union, from what the BSU states, she is shaken up and they are protecting her identity at this time; but they have assured the public that she is safe. Thank you If you haven’t already, take it to your Title IX Coordinator. From what you’ve described in this and other posts, this guy is infringing on women’s right to equal opportunity to an education on campus and the school is obligated to act. Federal law dictates certain acts they have to take and some others are discretionary, but if the school doesn’t follow through, they’re risking major litigation. Don’t shy away from phrasing it exactly that way. A school’s inaction in the face of gendered harassment and/or violence is actionable, and Title IX lawsuits are expensive. Even a lackadaisical Title IX Coordinator will bestir themselves when people start talking lawsuits. If you’ve already done so and nothing is happening, find a civil rights attorney in your area, preferably one with experience in Title IX and/or Clery Act actions. There are civil rights lawyers who work on contingency, so don’t let a lack of funds, if that’s an issue for you, stop you from pursuing this. You and the other students at your school deserve protection and you have rights. -- source link
