i made a real cheap-assed LED ring light for my dslr and iphone. this is a large hose clamp ($1.50) with a box of 50 LED string lights ($5, cool white, unfortunately) attached on the outside with exterior mounting tape ($4), secured with a strip of electrical tape. it needs another set of lights (it’s too dim) and I could have skipped the mounting tape and used hot glue or anything else to stick it to the hose clamp. originally this was mounted around a stove drip pan because i thought it would help with reflection but it was too heavy to be useful. the sticks are just trimmed chopsticks jammed anyhow into the clamp. the delta shape allows me to hold it easily in one hand along with a phone, or to hang it on my dslr lens. the LEDs are extremely directional so the last modification i made was softening them with a single layer of plain masking tape, which diffused them and helped tone down the blueness of the white a bit. the bottom selfie was taken with an iphone. also that isnt a herpe on my lip im just really chapped because its winter >:I -- source link
