The weight on your back shifts a little, but stays in place to not disrupt you. You go down for another pushup and come back up. “Thought you were going to read to me, Eri?” The boy shifts again. “I w-wanted to make sure you w-were ready!” You can’t help a smile. “I’m ready. What was Harry doin’ last?” “Oh you forgot? He was just about to-!” And he’s off and chattering away, hardly even bothered as you go down again. Reading on your back while you do pushups is harder. There’s movement and he has to focus. It’s good for him though. He has to pay attention to the words and it gives him time to practice shaping them without stuttering. It’s good for you because it gives you extra weight to work with and more importantly means you aren’t spending extra time away from him. “Keep going Eri. I want to hear how he makes it out of this one.” Your little boy giggles and keeps reading because magic is amazing and wonderful and you’d give it to him in a heartbeat if you could.
