Alishan Sunrise There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope. At the start a brand new day, as the sun starts to appear over the horizon, rays of hope shine down upon us and gives us an amazing sight reminding us of all the things the new day has to offer us. The clouds among mountain peaks strike different poses in every minute. The clouds occasionally converge to form a magnificent white ocean covering the sky, and the mountains like floating islets by poking the thick white ocean with their peaks. For most of the tourists, sunrise and sea of clouds (雲海) the must-sees in Alishan. There are two main viewing venues: Tatajia (塔塔加), a mountain pass 2,610 meters elevation nearby Yushan National Park, and the summit of Zhushan (祝山), whose elevation is 2,489 meters. Besides boarding the earliest forest train, visitors can also wake up 2 hours before sunrise and walk up to the Sunrise Viewing Observatory. If you walk fast enough, you can see the change of color of sky. After sunrise, most of the visitors rush back to train station. However, make sure you stay on the observatory for a little longer. It’s the best time to take photo and enjoy the moment. The air begins to warm and the wild birds start singing. If you are a bird watcher, this would be quite a trill.
