It’s different when you’re not in the dark. When there's space and carpet, and whitewashed walls. When the lighting is bright, and you can see every little thing. Sterile, unshaking. I’d imagine it’d make you feel very small. The way that the ropes cut into your skin, and how big that ball feels between your lips. With all that space, you’re bound to get lost in some of it. You’re bound to start asking yourself questions. You’re bound to let your mind wander, eventually. You’re bound, of course. Perception is such a big part of what we do. It dictates how something feels, and when we’re here just because of feelings, that’s a pretty big thing for it to be doing. The surroundings matter just as much as the actions, because candlelight flickers in a way that florescent tubing does not. Because black leather feels and looks different to white carpet. And me in a suit and tie is different to me in jeans and a t-shirt. The way I smile, the way I settle my hand on my belt, thumb holding it there, looks different. The words I say, too, change their weight, transmogrifying depending on my attire. But I’ll fuck you the same, either way. And you’ll enjoy it the same, either way. It’s nice that some things don’t change. -- source link
