dragonoffantasyandreality: m-calculus: thunderbirds-are-fab:madilayn:m-calculus: I couldn’t help imagining this meme with the boys I still think it would be completely feasible that Gordon would have hidden talents. Like speaking several different languages. And none of his brothers know. Though John suspects becausr the last rescue in Finland, Gordon didn’t ask for a translation. I think it would be pretty feasible that all the boys could understand some Russian. Hear me out: although it’s obviously a fictional world with an entirely different timeline in terms of space exploration, if Thunderbirds has any similarity with real world space programmes, then Jeff as an astronaut could have a functional knowledge of Russian. Alan mentions in Slingshot that Jeff made them all learn Morse Code, even though it was considered a bit defunct, which means that Jeff was keen on teaching his sons languages that could have an operational use for them. If all astronauts have to learn Russian, then Alan and John would definitely have been made to learn it. He probably gave all his sons the same training regardless of whether their specialism was going to be space related (according to our best guesses of the TAG timeline, Alan probably wasn’t even flying Thunderbird 3 yet before Jeff went missing, so Jeff might not have been preparing him for space specialist training), so it’s pretty likely that all the boys got the same basic skills so they could be prepared for anything. So yes, I definitely believe that John would be able to insult Gordon in Russian, and Gordon would be able to understand him. Because all the Tracys are overachieving internationally-working prodigies, I also think it’s equally as likely that they’re all polyglots who could understand any insult in a dozen languages. Good meme. I absolutely love how this went from light-hearted meme to actual serious study of canon. Cool! :D(Russian me is very happy knowing this!) -- source link
