hoodpane:underrateddescendantsscreenshots:Lonnie in this moment makes me wanna cry every time.Jay’s exterior cracks, Carlos looks so broken and Mal has never had someone comfort her like that in this moment. Get ready for a slight rant because this scene exposed a lot of characterization to me.Jay goes from flirtatious and charming to physically holding himself, Lonnie having broken through his mask and making him show a rare moment of vulnerability.Carlos just looks so sad because he knows it’s true, he’s always known, and he’s accepted long ago that their parents don’t love them. But it still hurts to hear because somewhere deep down he still wants that love from Cruella, even if it’s hard to admit as much.Evie in this scene looks sad as well, but in a nervous way, and she tries to look down and hide her facial expression. She doesn’t want to be seen this way.And Mal states down at the brief moment of affection by their entwined hands, freely given by someone who is practically a stranger, so confused and lost and wondering why she’s receiving this from Lonnie when she’s never received it from anyone else before- especially not her own mother.A temporarily broken mask, an accepted sadness that has yet to be properly grieved, an anxious demeanor hiding insecurities, and a feeling of confusion and loss that is repressed shortly after. That is the core of the rotten four. -- source link
