Some girls manage to always be in their own brand of light. They’ve cultivated it, wrapped it around themselves as equal parts armour and clothing, something to show off but at the same time something to protect. It’s a persona, projected, another tool in the belt that keeps a little more distance between them and the rest. That light comes in two types, by and large. There are those that always seem in half shadow, always manage to hide some of their face in shadow. They’re the ones with the heavy fringes, the bigger hair, the head tilted slightly down so that they can look at you from underneath their eyebrows. And then there are those that seem to generate, rather than hide from, the light. They push it out onto others, and no matter which angle you look at them from, you always seem them clearly. In a way, I sometimes wonder if they’re the ones who are more hidden, whether this is more of a mask, because it’s so very complete. The ones in the shadows are at least themselves in the shadows. If you hide yourself in the light there’s nothing of you left. -- source link
