We all lose our innocence, eventually. No, that’s not quite right. One more time. We all have our innocence lost, misplaced by someone or something else. It’s rarely ourselves that do the losing, but always some outside force that comes into the tranquil garden that is you and leaving some weeds behind. Except they’re not really weeds, because that garden was boring, in a nice sort of way. And now the weeds are blossoming and taking over, and the whole thing is glorious. Losing our innocence is something that’s bemoaned and lamented, so often. But beyond being just the trite ‘necessary part of growing up’, it’s also something that needs to be properly focused on. Without our innocence getting in the way, we’re actually free to explore and map out that garden. Every little dark corner that was too frightening before becomes something exciting. There’s little innocence left in the world of D/s. You might have some when you first arrive, but it’s left at the door. Because it’s a world of exploration, not coyness and hushed tones. It’s about expression and sexuality, in no uncertain terms. Without an open mind, they hover at the threshold, with their judging face on. Pity their judging face is such an ugly one, really. -- source link
