He considered her, then, across the room. She was watching him, her breath coming in hard and fast, the only sound to hang in the air. His eyes followed the lines of the chain, like cartographer’s marks on a map, each one leading to some new unknown expanse that he had yet to explore. He’d asked her to dress for him, and this was how she’d done it. It told him more than he’d expected, if he was honest, and for a moment he’d been taken aback. But now he was savouring it. He could see the line of her brow start to arc upwards as anxiety started to take hold, and he smiled. Partly because her reaction amused him, and partly to reassure her that nothing was awry. He brought up a hand, resting his elbow on the armrest of the chair. One finger was extended, before twirling around in the air, tracing a small circle. She nodded immediately, rolling from her back onto her stomach, to give him a new, equally beautiful view. “Why the chains?” He asked, finally. She sighed with relief, his voice seeming to pop the tension in the room. “You said to look my best." He smiled, and nodded. -- source link
