When I gag you, that’s not just to stop you from talking. It’s a challenge to myself. It’s a challenge to see if I can still read you like the open book you’ve always been. Whether shoving a ball in your mouth is going to be like taking off reading glasses, or holding the text far too far away. I want to see if you still have the same little ticks, the signposts for ‘Keep fucking doing that!’, or 'Err try that other thing’. I want to see what changes, and whether I’ll be able to roll with it, manage to come out on top, like I have before. It’s a way of keeping things interesting, and making sure I don’t get complacent.
