Coca-Cola has always been known for their interesting and entertaining ads, ranging from Santa Clause, to Models, to video game spoofs. Yet they are not only intelligent in theme but also in design. The Coca-Cola brand has been refined to such a marketable degree that it is now iconic. The brand has become so iconic due to the intelligent use of artistic elements in their design. The intelligent use of line can be clearly be evidenced from this vintage ad. The first line, which is the most noticeable, is the line created by the row of bottles. The bottles are arranged to be reminiscent of a convayer belt, showcasing repetition, which is the main idea Coke wants to get across. The line creates a third dimension giving depth and mass to the advertisement, the bottles aren’t coming across you, they are coming towards you. The next important line is the lively line created by the tops of the bottles as they come towards you. It creates a line that moves to the right and up, a positive, dynamic line, creating energy. The feeling of energy/ excitement is perhaps the most important and often used by Coke. it is used in the iconic Coke stripe to the choice of type face used for coke. all those lines are lively, trying to say Coke is fun and exciting. Coca-Cola is a genius at marketing emotions through simple uses of artistic elements and principles. They even use line in the way they craft their bottles. The bottles have the iconic feminine hourglass form and an ever fun and seductive slight s curve. Coke knows what they are doing, take any piece of Coke advertising and everything in that image has a point, even down to the simple lines. -- source link
