Decorative corbel of a Medieval man reading a book. It was probably designed to be hung high in a library. It is made out of plaster with a faux wood finish mounted on a wooden backboard. The Gothic revival style was very popular during the early 20th century, and similar whimsical reading figures carved from stone can be found decorating building exteriors all around New York City like the one shown above from 537 W. 110th St. We’ll take $400 off the list price through July 15, 2016.
