pastellig:kingarslan:so as we all know, arakawa definitely has a reason for the changes that she makes to the source text. what could be the reason for not drawing narsus sensually eating grapes off the vine? too risque, perhaps? Good catch! I wonder why as well. Whatever Arakawa’s intent behind changing this scene, here’s what it conveyed to me:1. While Daryun is presumably drinking wine and beer with everyone else, we don’t see him get drunk. The normally somber and sober Daryun feels tense enough to accept wine as some kind of stress relief — his face says, “I need a drink.” 2. They’re familiar with one another — Narsus offers the cup of wine to Daryun with a wiggle, Daryun takes it with a tilt of thanks. They don’t need the formality of language, which foreshadows how they plan their escape from Peshawar. I suppose tossing Daryun the grapes could convey the same thing, with the bonus of angry chewing. Perhaps the wine was just a tad more elegant! oh my god… i was just making a joke but you made some really good points T_T how sweet… -- source link
