In 1988, comics scribe R.A. Jones got a chance from the creator-owned Eternity Comics (best known for Ninja High School and Ex-Mutants) to create his own worlds. The notable ones were Dark Wolf, a superhero who is an amnesiac vampire who has a split personality as a Catholic Priest, pursued by black magic cults for a reason he doesn’t understand. Dark Wolf is a supernatural and horror-themed take on Gerber’s Omega the Unknown. The other is Fist of God, a tough-guy action adventure series about a gruff, hard American back alley brawler who goes to the Arab world to pursue a girl. It is, in essence, a fusion of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ the Mucker (easily in the top 5 Burroughs novels) with Robert E. Howard’s El Borak. The best writers to compare R.A. Jones to would be Chuck Dixon, or perhaps Frank Miller, if they kept a foot in the pulp world. -- source link
