Some of the first known works were perhaps inspired by food, or at the very least the hunt and acquisition of sustenance. One of the most important works of modern art, Manet’s Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe showcases an outdoor feast. Even in the pop age, one of the most recognizable works of art is a can of Campbell’s soup. Perhaps it is the open endedness of food and it’s intimate connection with culture that entices artist to create.“Feed Me” is an exhibition that brings together artists working across the food spectrum. Much as a sandwich stacks differing elements into a diverse whole, we have chosen artists that represent a range of mediums and themes, concentrating on practices that relate to the perilous consumption of late capitalist America and examine interpersonal and social rituals. -- source link
