disgruntled-foreign-patriarch: libertarian-princess:poblachtnahoibrithe: antifainternational: gdanskcityofficial: ready-to-fight: Death to Fascism “If fascism could be defeated in debate, I assure you that it would never have happened, neither in Germany, nor in Italy, nor anywhere else.” – Frank Frison, Holocaust survivor Sound advice from one of the members of the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion - Canadian antifa volunteers that fought against the fascists in the Spanish Civil War. I must take exception. The Italian Communist Party went to great lengths to penetrate fascist mass organizations in the 1930s. Why? Because ‘that was where the masses were.’ And they had important successes in drawing people away from fascism. As a labor organizer, I learned that it is ONLY the Boss, the Capitalist, who has an intrinsic interest in cutting off dialogue. They knock themselves out trying to prevent workers from dialoging. Why, as a revolutionary, should I aid and abet that?True, it sounds VERY revolutionary to say: ‘FIGHT!’ But lets remember what Gramsci - who led the Italian industrial workingclass in six days of hand-to-hand combat against the Italian state - had to say: that the true revolutionary is not he who pronounces flaming phrases, but rather he who figures out how to organizes production.Well: EVERY rightwinger brought over, on this or that terrain of struggle, weakens fascism. EVERY rightwinger who, for any reason, decides to ‘sit this one out’ WEAKENS fascism.Fascism did not come to Germany because the masses bought into its ideology. Fascism came to Germany 1. because of the bitter animosity between Communists and Social Democrats, that prevented them unifying against the fascist threat (ditto for Italy). 2. because the bourgeoisie of not just Germany, but of the US and Britain, were determined to kill off the workingclass’s organizations, and funded Hitler and Mussolini. Finally, there are MANY brands of ‘antifascism’. In WWII, even some extreme rightwingers were 'antifascist’. And every group had its own analysis of what fascism is, where it is rooted, what should be done about it. The fact that one person says, 'kill them all’ does not mean they speak for 'antifascism’. As the son of an antifascist who shed his blood in battle against the Third Reich, I can attest to that. Disclaimer: I am anti-facsistI like how people are acting like “don’t argue, block and/or kill them” is the humane, mature approach to take. I also love the “don’t argue because it platforms their beliefs and people with weaker moral constitutions might be persuaded to believe the wrong thing.” How condescending and arrogant. “I know what the right thing to think is, so I’m going to censor the information you can consume to make sure you think The Right Thing, which is also everything I believe!” It’s controlling.Anyone who refuses to argue with fascists are the people with “the weak moral constitutions.” They can’t debunk fascist arguments because they dont know why theyre wrong. They believe whatever their group thinks. The Group thinks X is bad, therefore X is bad. They don’t have any real arguments. They don’t actually know why fascism is wrong and how to debunk fascist arguments. most of the people above are also socialists and communists. They’re only Anti-Fascist because Fascism is their competitor in authoritarianism. They don’t oppose fascism for the benefit of freedom and personal liberation. They oppose it because they think THEY should be crushing you instead. Exactly. Fascism is a “win at all costs” ideology that is a threat to their own “win at all costs” ideology. -- source link
