Happy Fathers Day to those who don’t have dads, who those who lost their dad, to those who have strained relationships with their dads, to those who were hurt by their dads, to those who don’t know where their dads are, to those who had to take over their own parenting roles, to the mothers who play father too, to the fathers who parent singlehandedly, to the parents who don’t identify with a binary gender, to trans fathers, to fathers who are a minority, to fathers who stick around, to fathers who love their kids & do the best damn job they can do to uplift them every day. You are all valid, you are not left out. No matter how challenged it may be, our ancestry supports us. Realize that simply the act of bringing a child into this world implies trauma, & that this world is a place where we cannot raise children without their encountering trauma. We can simply do the best we can. Utilize whatever you’ve learned, whatever you’ve become, to celebrate the Emperor within us, & pass this on. Whether your discipline & reassurance was inspired by a well-equipped parent, or was solely self-acquired, there is an endless supply of love & support from the ancestors who walked this earth before us. #fathersday #poetry #ancestors (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) -- source link
