Liam knows that tone of Saffron’s well- he is being put to some sort of mysterious test, and if he fails the consequences will be dire. Despite the cool temperature, sweat again prickles his skin. He tries to focus. Saffron wears a lot of blue, so it stands to reason that blue would be her favourite colour. As for her favourite band….shit. What’s the name of that boy band that all the teenage girls in his classes are into? Guyzone! That’s it! He feels at once dizzy with hope, and nauseous with apprehension.“Well?” Saffron snaps.“Your favourite colour is blue, and….and you don’t actually have a favourite band.” says Liam. “You used to be into Guyzone, but your tastes are a lot more sophisticated and discerning these days.” For several seconds his phone pulses with silent tension. Then Saffron gives a grudging snort. “Huh,” she says. “Of course blue’s my favourite colour. And I know you’re just trying to flatter me with the comments about my musical tastes, but I’ll allow it. I did go to a Guyzone concert a couple of years ago, did I ever tell you that? It was fun. But I’ve definitely grown up a lot since then.”“I’m sure you have,” says Liam. “My favourite colour’s grey. Do you want to know what my favourite band is?”“No,” says Saffron. “My baby sister’s crying, I’ve got to go. Catch you later, Mr. McFarlane!” -- source link
