journeythrujune:** TO SHARE CHALLENGE - REBLOG THIS POST **JOURNEY JUNE 2022 | #JourneyJune22 | This challenge primarily takes place on Instagram under the account: @journeythrujuneWhat is Journey June? Journey June is a visual storytelling challenge geared towards artists who want to get better at telling stories. It’s based on the classic formula of the Hero’s Journey but broken into daily chunks to finish a story over the course of a month. If you finish your story, you earn a FREE PUBLISHING CLASS that shows you how to take your story to the next step and make it into a book! The official tag for 2022 is: #journeyjune22 Your story tag to find your story later: #jj[story name here] EXPANDED PROMPTS LEVELS 1 & 2 (Lvl 2 is for those that have finished Journey June in the past. It involves more experience and images per prompt in some cases. Please do not attempt lvl 2 until you’ve done lvl 1.) ⚔ Hero Workshop: WATCHOFFICIAL RULES: MOST IMPORTANTLY NO PRE-EXISTING CHARACTERS OR STORIES. Make a new test character for this. You can take whatever you learn from this month and apply it to any stories you want after you complete this journey. It’s very important you don’t have any pre-existing information as it will complicate this challenge. ALSO, FANART/FANFICS ARE 100% NOT ALLOWED.GUIDELINES: 1. No combining prompts into one image, but you can have multiple images for one prompt if you want. 2. Label by entry by what day it is 3. If posting online, make your own hashtag for your story AND the main tag for the year ( #JourneyJune22 ). Format: #jj[insert story title here] Example: #jjpip Remember, you’re drawing SCENES in a CONSECUTIVE STORY. Try to keep characters/outfits/objects consistent throughout. 4. NO RENDERED ILLUSTRATIONS, only sketches or thumbnails. This is a rough draft. We’d rather you do the next day’s prompt and get ahead than polish the current one. Save your quality for when you have a solid draft after revisions. We don’t want you wasting time and want you set up for the best possible success. 5. Stay close enough to the prompts so we can tell it’s the theme it’s supposed to be. - They don’t need to be any particular genre. Choose whatever you’re most passionate about. BEST PRACTICES - Choose a small size (under 6x9 for sure). No reason to go big or detailed for a draft. - Can take any form (comic, storybook, etc.) We highly suggest not worrying about panels now however. Just do every shot in a rectangle and figure out panel shapes/sizes after the story is finished. - Use any medium you like. - Keep it simple! You’ll be glad you did. - Show don’t tell. Who/what/when/where/why/how. Use body language/staging more than dialogue whenever possible. Dialogue can sometimes be a crutch. - Plan ahead! But if you get overwhelmed, go back to day-by-day. - If you’re going for the free class at the end, make sure you’re putting your entries in a place where it’ll be easy to send to us or tell us where to find them if they’re posted online. Remember these things and you’ll be golden! “GOOD LUCK!” ~ ❤️ @cloverkin ️☘ ️& @galvosaur Let us know if you have questions!!
