his-shining-eyes:instructor144: subwithsass:I miss my gentle giant My soul mate Junior (1994-2006) once came in from walkies with a swollen lower lip. I freaked, assuming he’d been bit by some venomous creature. I told him to open his mouth so I could check him out …. and I saw two eyes peering wide-eyed out at me.“YOU SPIT THAT OUT RIGHT NOW!”A gentle *ptoo* and out popped a toad. I shoo’ed the toad out the front door, where he no doubt scurried off to tell his friends tall tales about his harrowing adventure. I don’t think Junior wanted to eat it (if a dog is going to eat a small critter, it’s *gulp* and GONE). I think he just wanted to play with it. Yeah… no my Jin (he’s not as big) once ate a lizard. A cute little lizard he found in the garden. needless to say he got sick for a few days…. ♀️ we still need to watch him, cause he’ll do it again, no remorse!! Missy the Tripod Pup is the same. For a dog who spends her days lounging around and angling for snacks, that girl can hunt! It’s lizard/toad season, and the other afternoon I took her out and ZOOM!!! Arrowed right for a lizard on the bottom step. She was fast. I mean FAST. I believe if I hadn’t yanked back on the leash that lizard would have been half way to her gullet 2 seconds later. Gracie, on the other hand, looks at critters like AH-ROO? Except for butterflies. She fucking hates butterflies. -- source link
