Built in 1902 at the heart of what was once a bustling mining town, this hotel is now haunted by many of the people who once frequented its dark halls. Nearly 20 ghostly figures have been documented so far. Most notable is the ghost of Julia Lowell, a lady of the night who often serviced her clients here in this hotel, in a time when women often came to Bisbee to make their fortunes in sex work. The third floor is her favorite, and guests in room 315 often report her presence as a cloud of white smoke, whispers, or an finely-dressed apparition at the foot of their beds. Employees staffing the reception desk often receive strange phone calls for a man named Howard, who never seems to check in or check out. He might be the ghost often seen dressed in a top hat and black cape, who always brings with him the scent of cigar smoke. Guests have frequently reported encountering levitating objects, unlocked doors that open on their own, whispers from darkened corners, phone calls from nobody at all, and the tapping of cold fingers on their shoulders.
