londonandrews: Crazy to think that for the last four years, I have been stumbling around on a broken ankle. I have learned to shape my entire life around how much pain I could handle each day. A short walk with the dogs. A few hours of yard work. Since we moved to the farm, I have been pushing myself beyond my limits (I am excited to be here and I have so much work that I want to accomplish). Some days, the pain is tolerable. Lately, the pain has been worse. My health has deteriorated from lack of movement. In 2019, I walked a total of 22 miles. Just 22 miles. I, literally, could not believe my eyes when I read that. Five years ago, I hiked the Inca Trail. My entire life revolved around being outdoors and hiking in nature. I planned countless trips around different hikes that I wanted to take… and now… I am lucky if I can stumble to the barn and back. How did I ever let things get so bad? …… Surgery is set for the first week of March. Two pins and a metal plate. Eight weeks of no weight bearing until May.
