kitsune2022-artish:More workin on faces, this time just my guy Vidal bein an asshole to his favorite shiny red head then coming to a sudden realization D: You’re not that far off actually! I was specifically thinking of an argument they eventually have wherein Vidal is forced to suddenly reframe their entire dynamic.Long story short(ish):Vidal is in a less than ideal situation and he needs a boost from a divine something or other to get himself out of it. He can’t go far, but luckily, Elias lives nearby and is a reluctant demigod, so that’ll do. Vidal already knows he takes human sacrifices, so no problem, leave some poor jackass at Elias’ doorstep, receive a blessing, then boom, everything’s fixed. But Elias won’t take the meat and is in fact upset once he realizes what’s going on. Vidal thinks his offerings are being snubbed, that Elias is just being difficult for some stupid “holier-than-thou” kinda reason. Like maybe Elias thinks Vidal is shitty just because he’s a vulture thing that specializes in decay. So Vidal is a dick to him and they fight verbally and also physically at least once, which Does Not Go Well for Vidal since he is very much not working at 100% anyway.Afterward, he has to back off a little, but it’s not like he has any other option, so he just gets progressively more fed up with Elias. FINALLY their bickering leads to Vidal implying to Elias what his beef actually is – that Elias clearly thinks he’s too good and special to take the human sacrifice he clearly needs from Vidal of all people. Then Elias blows up right back saying that Excuse You Very Much, he hates that he can’t keep from going feral without finding his yearly mark to feed on. If Vidal is trying to win his favor or some shit, why in hell would pushing more sacrificial bullshit onto him be the thing to do to get it?So in that moment, Vidal realizes that he has drastically overestimated how much Elias knows about the nature of what he is, what he can do, etc. Several things he’s seen over the time he’s been pestering Elias suddenly make a lot more sense, and it clicks that he IS, in fact, an asshole, and has gone about all this in the worst possible way. -- source link
