Congrats to the runners up! This was a really good week, honestly any one of these runners could have been a winner with just a little less competition. You Gather in a Dusty Tavern by @abzanheroOkay this is quite fun. I do worry that it makes party too trivial to achieve which takes away from the fun of it, so I don’t think this should be in a set with party. However, in a set without party, this is a great callback to the mechanic that works flavorfully well on its own, really any dnd set (except for the two that exist lol, since AFR was still in standard with party and and CLB had the party commander deck.) As a minor note, I do think the warrior should be the 2/1; maybe the rogue should have deathtouch or menace? I know you got a lot of feedback like this, but I think it’s good advice. Hell, you might even be able to get away with 2/1 and vigilance, though that might break the symmetry too much. Overall though, this is a very sweet card and has fun dnd flavor. It works well with the party mechanic, and I would like it to exist, I just wouldn’t put it in a set with party.Gathering Resources by @i-am-the-one-who-wololoesLooks pretty great! It gives you a decent amount of resources, but I don’t think anything too much or too complicated for the cost at common. In fact, I think this could even be a little stronger. You could probably have this be only 3G instead of 2GG, and have the artifacts enter the battlefield untapped. For four mana, you can get two basics, so getting a treasure and a food instead, even untapped, seems comparable. I like this though! It has some simple flavor and a simple design that comes together well in a nice little package.Gathering Mists by @dabudderLooks fun! I’ve always been a big fan of that cycle from time spiral that worked similarly to this. I was a little worried about this with a big X cost, just keeping creatures tapped down and hard to interact with, but I think doing that is more than expensive enough to be fine. This seems like a fun little control piece that I’d love to play with. I like how it sets itself up, but it also doesn’t seem too strong in doing so. The numbers look just right.Thank you all! Like I said on the winners post, full commentary should be up tomorrow or monday. -- source link
