“Tbh, I’m really starting to think that the Pretty Cure fandom is full of bigotry and anti-representation individuals. Every time when someone suggests something new and different for Pretty Cure, if it isn’t LGBTQ, it gets shot down. I understand that the series is aimed for Japanese kids, but what’s wrong with adding new things or changing things up every now and then? It’s been 19 YEARS and it’s going to be more Pretty Cure in the future. I’m not trying to change Pretty Cure, but something new would be kind of good and refreshing. I’m pretty sure more dark-skinned cures, green cures, younger/older cures, Biracial cures, maybe plus size cures, etc. alike wouldn’t hurt the Japanese population too much right? Lol Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying those kind of things ARENT in the series already (Cure Lemonade, Cure Elena, Cure Earth, Cure Infinity, Cure Macron x Cure Chocolat etc.), but I don’t know. I just feel like the representation could be better, even by Pretty Cure standards. If Pretty Cure was an American series, then people would be complaining non-stop about whitewashing and representation, but because Pretty Cure is from Japan, that’s suddenly different???” -- source link
