I woke up late so we left late. Lawl. I think that yesterday ate me more than I thought it did. Still worth it, though, in a million different ways. Also today decided to be a rainy mess, so that was great. But horses were still mostly out by the time we got there, and since they were all in paddocks/pens with the rain and wetness, it was quick getting them out. We were able to get our own horses in and then get up to the arena even before most of the Pony Club kids had arrived, which gave us some good time to just work.Quattro was really good today. He did lots of canter; it was the perfect temperature - and with that wet sheen - that he didn’t get too hot or tired and felt good. So we cantered. We even worked on the figure-eight at the canter, which is tough due to the lead changes, but he was real smooth through the whole thing. We need to work on getting our turning a little better but he’s doin’ really well.Afterwards I brought in Q to groom him and do his hooves and just let him have some time out of the wet. They all appreciated it. I noticed that he’s really got some ergots growing in on his heels, which I don’t think I’ve actually seen before. Maybe he’s had like bumps but they’re turning into little pyramids. Not the giant hooks like Jaeger has but still.Horses are such weird creatures. But I wouldn’t change them for the world. -- source link
