docgold13: 365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…March 1st - SilkCindy Moon had been a high school student who attended the same fateful experiment in nuclear radiation that resulted in Peter Parker becoming The Amazing Spider-Man. The irradiated spider first bit Peter on the arm and then bit Cindy on her ankle. Both teens were bestowed spider-based super powers. Cindy developed super strength, dexterity, an enhanced sense of equilibrium, the capacity to stick to surfaces and the ability to produce a super-strong, silk-like webbing from glands within her forearms. A man by the name of Ezekiel Sims came and took Cindy away. He trained Cindy in the use of her powers until he realized the totemic predator known as Morlun was tracking her. So to keep Cindy safe, Ezekiel locked her away in a specialized bunker that blocked Morlun’s detection. This bunker had years worth of food, books, and tapes on the outside world which Cindy watched daily. She knew the code to leave at anytime but, knowing the potential consequences, she decided to stay put despite the near intolerable boredom.Spider-Man came to discover Cindy’s existence and location during the Original Sin event, when the villainous Orb released several of the dark secrets held by Uatu The Watcher. Believing Morlun to be dead, Spider-Man released Cidy and coaxed her to reenter the world. Sequestered for nearly a decade, Cindy rushed to try to find her family yet discovered that they had moved from their apartment leaving no trace of where they have gone. Cindy created a costume for herself and took the alias ‘Silk’ as she and Spider-Man began the task of trying to locate her family. Yet it wasn’t long before the threat of Morlun resurfaced and Silk found herself embroiled in the Spider-Verse saga, battling the vampiric foe across multiple realities accompanied by various alternate universe versions of Spider-Man. Afterwards, Cindy tried to create a life for herself, taking a job and filling her nights as the crimefighting hero, Silk; all the while continuing her search for her missing family. The intelligence agency SHIELD offered to aide in her search in exchange for Silk going under cover, pretending to be a villain and working in tandem with The Black Cat. Some time thereafter, Silk accompanied a group of her fellow Asian and Asian American super heroes as part of a fundraising event. This led to her meeting Jimmy Woo and ultimately becoming an adjunct member of his team of heroes, The Agents of Atlas, aiding them during the War of The Realms event.A version of Cindy Moon features in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, cameoing in Spider-Man: Homecoming and portrayed by actress Tiffany Espensen. The heroine first appeared in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 3 #1 (2014). -- source link
