toadschooled: The South American common toad [Rhinella margaritifera] is a highly variable species. Some have markings whilst others do not. Some have tall, pointy head crests, whilst others have small ridges instead. And some are brown whereas others are black, tan, or grey. This variability, combined with their wide range of distribution, has led many to speculate that these toads actually represent several species sharing the same scientific name.
