Matthew Schumacher is a twenty four year old character in Make Your Mark Roleplay, a literate group. He looks very similar to Michael Cera and is OPEN. Name: Matthew Schumacher Nicknames: Mostly just goes by Matt Age: Twenty Three Date of Birth: August 31st (Virgo) Location of Birth: Bronx, New York Gender Identity: Male Orientation: Heterosexual Occupation: Aspiring drummer Education: No Formal Education Identifying marks/tattoos: None Piercings: None Resides In: Manhattan, New York Neighborhood: Tribeca Headcanon #1: Even though Matt’s grown up in New York, he doesn’t really have the connection with it that everybody else seems to. Maybe it’s because he’s accustomed to it, but there’s just something about it that Matt doesn’t like. He thinks that he’d like San Francisco, or Seattle, better, but is too scared to make the move.  Headcanon #2: Up to roleplayer! Matthew grew up outside of Manhattan, with his mother. As an only child, Matt was left alone most of the time. His dad had left when he was young, and his mom worked a full time job. Matt went to school (most days) after his mother had long left the house, and returned home five hours before she walked in the door every night. She worked in Manhattan, and it seemed like all of her time was spent at work or transporting to and from. Matt held free roam of the house, and his neighborhood, from the time that he was ten years old and began to stay at home alone. Ever since then, he’s been intent on making music. At first, it was the only thing that would pass the time alone. Then, as he got better and better, playing the drums became a way of life for Matt. His mom never understood, but it didn’t matter. He spent all of the time while she was gone practicing, and by the time that he was fifteen years old, had joined his first band. Although they were never successful, Matt’s fist experience playing in a group was extremely influential for him. He would hold practice at his house every day after school, and the entire band would play for hours. When his mother arrived, they would all leave, and Matt would come up with some bogus story explaining what he had been doing since school got out. His mother wanted him to do something with banking, or with accounting. She wanted him to live a more financially stable life than herself, and expected him to do something that paid well. Matthew never had much concern with money though, and became dead set on making it in a band. He wanted to create music, play gigs, and gain fans. However, after playing a couple of shows, the first band that he was in completely broke apart. For a while, Matt didn’t know how he was going to accomplish his dreams of being a drummer. He spent two years creating music on his own, wallowing in the loneliness that he felt while not being part of a group. After he graduated, Matt left The Bronx in favor of Manhattan. While his mother never wanted to live in the city because of money, Matthew was ready to take on the challenge. He was capable of living on a budget, and didn’t mind staying in a dingy, dirty, apartment. He was just happy to be living in the city, and even managed to get some recording equipment installed in his house. Ever since, Matt’s been living with many different roommates, trying to find someone to start a band with. He’s created loads of music by himself, but he despises his own voice and wants a group to call his own. Matthew’s meticulous though, and won’t rush into anything. He knows that if he’s going to make it in this city and become famous, he’s going to have to do it right. Matt’s always posting flyers for auditions and attending open mic nights to find people, but he’s come up dry. However, the city is rich with musicians and Matthew is sure that if he just keeps searching, eventually, he’ll be able to find someone who impresses him.  Positive Character Traits: Dedicated, musically inclined, capable, talented, determined.
