How To Host A Girl Walk // All Day Screening Here at Girl Walk HQ, we get a lot of emails asking if a person, organization or venue can host a screening. The answer is YES! Here’s how to go about it. Find a venue: The first step is to reach out and find a venue you think would be a good fit*. We’ve shown the film indoors and outdoors at venues from 50 people to 2,000+ people, so it’s really about the night of the week and how many people you think you can pull in your town/city. If it’s warm, also consider outdoor screenings in public parts of town. Make sure the venue has at least 1 large screen installed in the venue – the bigger the better – and a good PA system. Or, make sure you are able to provide both of these elements. Make it Yours: In the screenings we have produced, we work to create unique, immersive events that are venue-specific to each location. If a space is loft-like or gallery-like with big, white walls, think about having multiple projections at once. Consider what a pre-show might look like: other videos? Local dancers/dance troupes doing a live performance? A DJ'ed dance party right after the film? Sparklers? Anything you can dream up is oin the table. Straightforward screenings are also a-okay; we just don’t want you to feel limited. For inspiration and other examples, check out some of our past events and photos of screenings. The Nitty Gritty: Once these pieces are in place, let us know what you have in mind, and we can work through administrative / event fees and other event logistics. Getting You The Film + Getting the Word Out: We then provide you with the film either on Blu-ray, HD Cam, or as a hi-res digital download. (We discourage you from screening from a DVD). We also provide an official press release, hi-res film stills and a logo to help with promotion of your event. Lastly, we help publicize the event through our social media channels (twitter, facebook, instagram) and active newsletter base, though we do look to the host to lead the majority of the PR efforts for your own local audience.
