morbidology: Tore Hendin was furious that his ex-fiancée, Ulla Östberg, would not take him back. On the 21st of August, 1952, he went to his parents house in Saxtorp, Sweden, and murdered them both and set the house on fire. Later that day, he went to the retirement home where his ex-fiancée worked and lived. He killed Ulla and the matron, Agnes Lundin, with an axe. He then blocked the entrance to the retirement home and set the building on fire, killing five people. The case is infamous because Tore Hendin worked as a police officer and and was assigned to investigate his own murders. When police began to link Hendin to the crimes, he drowned himself in a lake. His suicide note was found in his car and it contained a full confession. -- source link
