Mariano Fortuny’s “Delphos”, 1910-20. This type of dress, highly pleated of fine silk, available both sleeveless and with sleeves and in all possible shades, was produced from ca. 1907-1950. The idea was that each wearer should adapt it to their style and their body type, and also alter its look with drawstrings, belts and overcoats. This is probably also why it survived as a fashionable item for over 40 years. The dresses are today highly sought after both by museums, collectors and fashionistas, and also makes frequent appearances in TV series and movies. This moss green version is from Design Museum Denmark -- source link
