Only about 5% of slave ships brought African ppl to North America. The other 95% went to the islands and South America. This is why Brazil has the highest population of Black ppl making it 2nd to Africa. This is why Hispañola aka Haiti and the Dominican Republic are majority Black. Of course the latine ppl and latine governments are at fault too because it’s a known fact, that just like here in North America, we are pushed out of our communities and underrepresented in basically everything. Our ppl are everywhere. Literally. From Peru to Costa Rica. From Haiti to Cuba. Black ppl are there. You don’t HAVE these cultures without Africa. Being Boriqua means being TAINO+SPANISH +AFRICAN. Full stop. ALWAYS that combination.
