This scene here is based on a piece of concept artwork for Willis O’Brien’s unmade dinosaur film Creation. As for the animals here, the adult Triceratops were based on the design from one of Mark Witton’s recent pieces while the youngsters are based on the ones from Saurian. While working on this, I had made the mother Triceratops on the right a bit too brightly colored, so I tried to dull the coloration, though I think I might have gone a bit overboard. -- source link
