Bright, loud colours, as garish and supposedly ‘trashy’ as they might seem, always broadcast to me a certain cleanliness, if not of the wearer, at least of the clothes themselves. It’s hard to hide a mark on such lurid colours, and harder still to keep them that bright through multiple washes. So it’s clean, and it’s new. Which, when you put it in such a decrepit room, creates that lovely contrast we’ve all come to know and love. Take something new, and clean, and put it somewhere old, and dirty. I’m not really talking about the clothes, in that last bit. Just so you know. -- source link
