handfuloftime: François Pils (1785-1867) was a grenadier who was attached to Oudinot from 1804 through 1814. Pils made sketches throughout the campaigns he fought in (his son, Isidore Pils, also became a painter), and several of his sketches and a few of his paintings are collected in his memoirs, Journal du marche du grenadier Pils, published in 1895.
