As an artist I would like to raise awareness about the current and worsening climate crisis. So I am going to regularly post an animal, tree or environment I would like to see survive into the future but if we don’t change our ways will not make it for my child to enjoy in her adulthood. Today I choose a controversial animal, Wolves in the context of rewilding. There is a lot of controversy when reintroducing predators into our wild spaces. There are many arguments for and against and each has merit. However I am pro rewilding amd believe to have a balanced, healthy and bio diverse environment which will support the fight against the worse effects of the climate crisis and our basic ability to grow food. It has been proven that factory mono culture farming is killing our soils, polluting our ground water and creating environments devoid of life, wild or domestic. There are a few things folk can do to help Support politicians and political parties who have robust rewilding policies in their manifestos (at the moment in the UK this is the Green Party) Lobby your mp to fund rewilding projects on farmland and subsidise farmers dedicating land to rewilding parts of their land. Support local farmers and small holders who are already applying methods of farming which encourages biodiversity. Plant a fruit tree on your street or in your front garden or verge so the wildlife as well as the community around you can benefit. (if you don’t have a garden then ‘phantom plant’ a tree somewhere in your community) Rewild a part of your garden if you are privileged enough to have one. Support your local wildlife trust or wildlife rescue centre. Just some things we can do so that we can all live in a thriving, diverse beautiful planet. Please don’t stop trying even if those with all the power and wealth won’t bother. #artistsforagreenfuture #cop26 #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CWIL2cLLLGE/?utm_medium=tumblr -- source link
