disregarding-reality: new page everyone! AUTHOR’S NOTES: im sure that by the time we go back after who knows how many weeks of the new idea i have in mind, they will still be arguing. Now as for the new idea, it is absolute secret so dont bother ask until two days have passed, which is when the idea is going to be revealed. so, yes, the gist is that basically we’ll be reading the story of a new couple of characters for a while, by all intents and purposes this comic now has two new protagonists who have nothing to do with these three assholes. this new “arc” as it were is actually going to be selfcontained and finite, is in a certain way a short story i have wanted to tell for a while now. why im telling this story here? i mean, the story really has nothing to do with Disregarding, it could very well be its own independent thing, but if it was its own independent thing then i would have to work on that, plus this comic simultaneously, which would mean that i’d be working on three separate projects at the same time, and i know that then any of them would see the light of day (the third one would be the thing referenced in the third panel, more on that later), i only have so much imagination and creativity to spare. this is a good way to motivate myself to start new proyects and actually sit down every day and finish them, thank god disregarding is not actually a single narrative. the bulk of the humor in this strip is in panels three and four. the third panel is a bit of an in-joke, since im referencing the two characters from There is a crack in the world Telescopica and the foremost citizen. i’ve been working on that for two months now and sits at around 16 chapters with 58.600 words total, which makes it the longest piece of fiction i’ve published online. as for what is going on in the fourth panel, in the notebook you can see written the phrases “Steampunk Floating Islands!” and “More Gay Aliens”. the joke is that these are the two most worn down, beaten to the ground, cliched, tired and stock premises lately. Like seriously, it is obscene the amount of times i saw up and coming creators who decide that their new (and possibly first) project is going to involve masses of lands that somehow defy gravity, wherein the technology is an outrageous extrapolation of victorian engineering. and gay aliens, nuff said -- source link
