A tiny look behind the scenes of a publishing house - translations and quality control From CEO Astrid Ohletz: I’m doing quality control of the editing of the German version of House of Agnes by Fiona Zedde, which will be out in German February 2023.Often readers don’t understand why it takes so long to publish or translate books. But quality is of the highest importance for us. So, for translations for example - we’ll have them translated, then edited (are the correct words used as well as the intention behind the words), then we’ll have them copy-edited and formatted. And then we’ll have a proofreader read them one more time - and always find more mistakes. All of this takes a while. Often I’ll check the quality of the editing or the translation, the editing, or/and copy-editing, which again takes time. And all of this costs money as well. But lesbian fiction deserves love and authors deserve that their stories get the best of everything. And readers deserve to have fun while reading stories.I want lesbian fiction to shine! At Ylva we’re not about publishing stories as they are and making as much money with them as we can. We pay attention to details and we aim to produce quality. Be it in the original English language or with a translation.Oh, and donuts do help with our work. Absolutely! -- source link
