themanslayer:Essential workers also miss out on unemployment if they quit. They’re basically being forced into these hazardous jobs during this pandemic. This pandemic where corporations refuse to enforce mask rules and where unappreciative and increasingly hostile customers flippantly endanger essential workers health every day. Working at a grocery store, customers have been getting more hostile each day. I know quarantine has been hard on us, and there is a lot of built up anger and frustration in all of us. But go punch a wall or something, don’t yell at the people who are the only reason you’re getting to eat during all this. If you work at a grocery store, customers will come up to you maskless just to ask for where the oranges are or something. Risking the health of the workers just so they can save a couple minutes on their grocery trip. Ideally, unless it’s 100% necessary, customers wouldn’t be interacting with grocery store workers at all. It’s just a pointless and easily avoidable health risk. Both the corporations and these rich and upper middle class customers are using these essential workers as their sacrificial lambs for petty and minor things. Even masked customers will get right in our face just to ask us unnecessary questions. And I’d like to reiterate once again, we cannot quit or else we give up unemployment. And grocery stores haven’t been shutting down and will not shut down, so we won’t be getting unemployment ever. -- source link
