art-of-swords: German Medieval “Great” sword Dated: circa 1400 Measurements: blade 98.7cm; overall length 125.5cm With long broad double-edged blade, the lower half cut with a broad shallow fuller on both sides, of flattened hexagonal section over the median, flattening towards to a short point, and cut with three marks repeated over the respective sides, a running wolf, an orb filled with a cross. The last probably a pair of swords set at opposing diagonals and each with traces of latten inlay, later iron crosspiece and pommel, the latter recessed at the centre and set with a silver roundel cast with an heraldic beast, and the blade tang encased in leather over a wooden core.
