There had been protests over the rule that she was to stand and curtsey whenever an adult - yes, even one of the servants - entered the room. And the fuss she had made over being put back into a gymslip and knee socks - well, it had been little short of hysterical. But Miss Gibson, a staunch believer in traditional discipline methods, had used her slipper and cane to win every single battle.
